John Lewin was born in Providence, Rhode Island. His career has spanned more than 40 years as a film director and photojournalist and taken him to all corners of the globe. His archives consists of thousands of images shot in the days of the "wet process", circa 1955-2000.
Today John shoots mostly with digital NIKONS.

Although he shoots in both black and white and color mediums, he prefers to strip the camouflage of color for the power of black and white. He believes black and white invites attention to form, depth, texture, mood and the subject's environment. His passion for black and white is especially evident as displayed in his Photo Essay galleries.

John is internationally published. He is a past president of the National Association of Navy Photography and a member of the International Combat Camera Association as well as other civic and mititary and Professional organizations.
